My name is Kara Jarzombek and I am the new Co-Director of Discipleship with Youth and Their Families! I will be working with the students of FUMC Hurst while also pursuing a Master’s degree in Youth Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
I wanted to share a little about myself and my passion for students. I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX (Go Spurs Go!) and attend college at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. I graduated from Moody in December 2016 with a Bachelors in Youth Ministry with a minor in Evangelism and Discipleship. After almost five years in Chicago I am thrilled to be returning home to Texas and to be closer to my family.
I started focusing on youth ministry my sophomore year of high school. Though I was blessed with a wonderful mother who I was, and still am, very close to, I lacked a strong Christian women outside of my family who could walk with me through the trials of high school. This gave me a great passion and desire to be the person that teenage me wanted in her life. I also had the opportunity to participate in multiple short terms mission trips that helped me live out my faith and gave me a passion to lead others. I am extremely excited to be joining this church family and using my gifts and education as I work with the students of FUMC Hurst.
