Rev. Philip Rhodes Bio

Philip Rhodes was appointed Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hurst in February 2013. Philip has served UMC Hurst since April 1999, most recently as Senior Associate Minister. He is a 2003 graduate of Perkins School of Theology at SMU.

Philip was born in England and moved to the United States with his family when he was 10 years old. He’s been married to Lynne since 1990.

Philip and Lynne share a love for ministry – Lynne is the Manager of Volunteers and Church Engagement for Project Transformation Dallas. Their children are Nic (senior at Oklahoma City University) and Brenna (Freshman at Midwestern State University). Philip loves to play golf when he can and considers working in the community, and specifically volunteering with teens at LD Bell High School, an awesome privilege.

“I am passionate about people and preaching. I feel called to preach and love to craft messages that speak to our own growing edges, our struggles, and our successes. I am honored to teach, preach, and care for the members of FUMC Hurst. I consider this work to be a privilege and thank God every day for the opportunity,” Philip says.
