In Jeremiah 31:3 God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” How easy it is for us to take those words for granted. What would happen if we had a glimpse of the everlasting love of God vibrant and alive in us?

Perhaps Love
I grew up with A Christmas Together, an album with John Denver and The Muppets from their TV Christmas special…My favorite songs on the album have changed over the years, and “The Christmas Wish” is currently in my top two. When Kermit sings “I don’t know if you believe in Christmas, or if you have presents underneath a Christmas tree, but if you believe in love that will be more than enough for you to come and celebrate with me,” it hits me right in the heart.
Mister Rogers: Why Him? Why Now?
His show was all about affirmation, building people up, making people feel that their feelings matter, their ideas matter, that they matter.
Secret Santa
Today, I saw God on the internet. I saw God on a site called Imgur, which is full of memes and comics, pictures of pets, life stories and general internet strangeness. The internet community of Imgur has a long standing tradition of hosting a Secret Santa. Members submit their names and are assigned someone to…
A Season for Intersectionality
I am a strong advocate for intersectionality. I first heard the term during my time in undergrad (more specifically, my first semester in the social work program). Bringing in the Sheaves

Settled Dust

Everyday Encounters
In worship this past Sunday, I shared briefly how I experienced a moment of gratitude while (of all things) washing the dishes. My hands were drenched in soapy bubbles and I was overcome by a sense of gratitude for the pots, pans, kitchen utensils, and baby bottles, many of which had been given as wedding…
Decembers to Remember
It’s December and December is a big month of remembering at our house. December isn’t just a big month because of Advent and Christmas, December is also a big month because of other things that happen in our lives too. December is the month of remembering big, life-changing events in our family. I love December…
UMW Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity
Putting faith, hope and love into action is a familiar phrase that defines who we are as United Methodist Women. Our local unit knows that in the DNA of UMW is the knowledge that the word “love” in the Methodist tradition is a verb requiring action, not merely a noun. On April 19, members of…
Faith in Action
While preparing for this summer’s upcoming mission trips, I have been reflecting a lot on my own mission trip experiences. My first mission trip was the summer after sixth grade and I still remember it quite vividly. This trip came at the end of a children’s leadership program at my church. We spent three years…
