I MOSTLY Did It!

I don’t know how much you guys pay attention to the blogs we write. I hope they give you a glimpse into our worlds and personalities and spark a little bit of helpful, uplifting, and honest food for thought for you. So, for those of you that DO pay attention to our blogs, I need to celebrate something with you…I MOSTLY did it! I MOSTLY stuck to my ‘word of the week’ goal for 2020. For those of you who don’t remember (or didn’t read it), you can see what my ‘word of the week’ goal for 2020 was here: https://fumchurstblog.com/2020/01/09/365-fresh-starts/ (We will wait just a minute while you catch up on that reading.)

I MOSTLY did it! I MOSTLY had a ‘word of the week’ in 2020! And as much as it pains me to say this…I think the pandemic actually helped with this goal quite a bit. I had a ‘word of the week’ from January all the way to May without missing a week. I know that being locked-down due to the pandemic gave me the time to really sit with each word and journal about them. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have made it beyond March. My journaling shows a break from May until August, and then I started again and had a ‘word of the week’ all the way through September and some occasional words from September until now! So…I MOSTLY did it!

I think it was a really good thing for me to do, especially given the situation in 2020. It’s interesting to see the change in my ‘word of the week’ choices starting in March with the pandemic. They certainly took a darker turn. The words in August began to pick back up to be more positive again.

I’m committed to doing this again in 2021. At a recent Bible Buddies gathering, I taught the Third Graders about a Concordance. (That is a Bible resource that you can use to look up a word to see where it appears in your Bible.) I think I’m going to add that step to my ‘word of the week’ to see what scriptures I can find that might relate to my word.

I had an overarching word for the year in 2020, and I haven’t yet settled on a word for 2021. I’m leaning towards Joy or Peace, but I’m just not sure yet. For those of you who keep track of this sort of thing, I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, would you like to join me for my 2021 ‘word of the week’ and scripture challenge? If so, I’d love to hear how it’s going for you!
