There is power in asking simple questions. Especially when those questions are open ended questions. Not just a question that could be answered with a yes or a no, but the kind of question that invites reflection and elaboration.

Show & Tell
“Actions speak louder than words.” “You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?” We have a number of phrases in the English language that point to the idea that ‘showing’ is better than just ‘telling’.
Repetition
I once read that a baby needs around 1,000 repetitions of a word to learn it, and that a toddler needs around 50 repetitions. This seems like an awful lot of repetition! Yet, at the same time I know that I need the benefit of repeated lessons just as much.
Advent Hope?
Ready or not, here it comes: Advent has arrived. Advent is here, and I have to confess it was a struggle to begin to write a blog about ‘Hope’. Little Faith, Big Impact
Do you ever have experiences that just melt your heart? Experiences that reduce you to a puddle of emotion? I had one about a month ago. On most evenings our family of three sits down to have dinner together at the table. (A practice I hope we are able to continue even as our son…
The Journey
This week I am on vacation, so this blog was written in anticipation of some time away in one of my favorite places: the mountains of Colorado. I know some people are beach people, but I am a mountain person. I long for the cooler weather, the sound of a gurgling stream or river, the…
Being Uncomfortable
In a conversation last week I was told, “growth only happens when people are uncomfortable”. And let me tell you, it has been rattling around in my brain ever since! It seems there are a multitude of applications for this idea. Comfort is no place for change and growth. It’s not just that growth causes…
